Mars Hydro TS1000 LED Grow Light Review
It took me 4 months to get my hands on a Mars Hydro TS1000 due to them repeatedly selling out in the UK when first released, but after months of email alerts I was luckily able to get my hands on one and I’ve been using it ever since, so grab some popcorn because this is a highly detailed, in-depth review that you can’t afford to ignore if you’re looking for a new, highly efficient, LED grow light.
Mars Hydro TS1000 LED Grow Light Specs:
The Mars Hydro TS1000 is a full spectrum LED grow light, meaning it can be used for both the vegetative and flowering stage, this is ideal for most growers as it eliminates the need for multiple bulbs.

As i do with any new LED grow light review, I ran a few tests on the Mars Hydro TS1000, to check if the power draw and the PPE/PPFD ratings are as advertised, I was surprised to see that the advertised PPFD is 100% accurate.
Unboxing the Mars Hydro TS1000
After waiting for the courier like an excited child, I was met with joy when he delivered me a completely discreet, plain brown box – only I and the robot who picked my order know I have this 🙂
The first thing i noticed about the TS1000 is the weight! If you’ve bought cheap LED grow lights before then you will know that they often don’t weigh much as a result of cheap, inferior parts they’re built with.

I’ve bought “1000W” LED lights that barely weigh 2lbs, the fact the Mars Hydro TS1000 has a power output of 150W and weighs 13lbs is a testament to the quality of the components inside, of course some of that additional weight is attributed to the heatsink, but be aware that it’s made from aluminium and only contributes ~20% of the total weight.
Installing & Using the TS1000
For the purpose of this review, I’ve installed my Mars Hydro TS1000 inside an official Mars Hydro tent.
Hanging the light took less than 2 minutes, suspended by 4 independent wires and a rope ratchet, the TS1000 feels safe and secure and barely moves, even when my tent is knocked by accident.
The Mars Hydro TS1000 produces an intense, white light – It’s much brighter than i expected, so much so i have to keep a pair of sunglasses by the tent ?
The light produced is ideal for every stage of growth, although I’d advise against putting seedlings under it until they are at least 2 weeks old purely to prevent the intensity of the LED’s from damaging your young plants.
For this review, I grew 2 Stardawg auto flowers inside separate 16L air-pots from start to finish, using my regular nutrient regime and a single Mars Hydro TS1000.
This is one of my favorite and most reliable strains to grow with, I’m also able to grow my plants from the same genetics for every light i test to ensure my findings remain consistent.
During the 6 week vegetation stage, both plants experienced a HUGE growth spurt, growing more than an inch a day, reaching a peak of 5ft tall (152cm) at the end of the pre-flower stretch.
This is solid evidence that the Mars Hydro TS1000 LED Grow Light is putting out the perfect spectrum of light (5200 – 6800K) which is perfect for the vegetative stage, and the plants clearly love it!
Because I’m using autoflowers, the flowering stage transitioned automatically without the need of “tricking” my plants into thinking winter is coming.
This means I didn’t have to change to a 12-12 light schedule, or have to swap to a light with a different spectrum. The Mars Hydro TS1000 powered my 2 Stardawg autos into and through a 7 week flowering stage with zero changes.
The Mars Hydro TS1000 performed outstandingly, during a total growth period of 90 days, my light remained on a 18/6 schedule throughout the entire grow, because there is no fan the TS1000 remained silent.
After using it for 90 days, I tested the PPE/PPFD readings to find they have remained the same with 0% degradation, a true testament to the high quality components.
LED Intensity, Efficiency & Coverage:
These measurements are taken from the official Mars-Hydro website, I’ve tested these ratings independently and i can confirm that they are 100% accurate.
- At a height of 18″ (45cm), the center PPFD reading is 552
- At a height of 24″ (61cm), the center PPFD reading is 325
Mars Hydro TS1000 Yield:
The reported yield for the Mars Hydro TS1000 is 1.5g/W, during my tests I was able to yield around 0.9g/W – It’s worth noting that i grew an auto flower strain which will always yield less than a regular photoperiod strain.
